NOTICE OF JUDICIAL VACANCY
18TH JUDICIAL CIRCUIT

Three (3) vacancies exist in the Office of Associate Judge in the 18th Judicial Circuit. (See announcement from Chief Judge Jorgensen below.) All applicants will need to file new applications for this notice - even if they just applied.

Those who would like to interview with the DCBA Judiciary Committee should provide 21 copies of their applications to the DCBA Bar Center, 126 S County Farm Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187 by Thursday, May 29, 2008.

Notice of Associate Judge Vacancies
The Illinois Supreme Court has authorized the Chief Judge of the 18th Judicial Circuit to post notice of [three (3) Associate Judge] vacancies. Any attorney who seeks appointment to the office of associate judge must be a United States citizen, licensed to practice law in this state, and a resident of the unit from which he/she seeks appointment. Two original applications, submitted on the prescribed application form, must be filed with:

Applications must be received by the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts by 5:00 p.m. on or before Wednesday, May 28, 2008.

An application form can be obtained from either the Chief Judge's Office or from the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts or from the Supreme Court's website: www.state.il.us/court. Applications may not be submitted electronically or via facsimile.

Applicants for the position will be given the opportunity to make an oral presentation to the Circuit Judges of the 18th Judicial Circuit. The applicants will be notified of the date, time and place at the close of the application phase. Applicants are to refrain from contacting individually any circuit Judge concerning the selection process, but a Circuit Judge may contact any applicant concerning the selection process.
